Discovering you're pregnant can be a whirlwind of emotions, excitement, and perhaps a hint of uncertainty. Amidst this rollercoaster, one pressing question often arises: When should you schedule your first prenatal appointment?

The timing of your initial prenatal visit is crucial for ensuring a healthy pregnancy journey. Your first OB visit should ideally occur about 7 to 10 weeks after the first day of your last menstrual period. This timing allows for the earliest reliable detection of a heartbeat on ultrasound, providing valuable insight into your baby's development.

During your first prenatal appointment, we will conduct a thorough assessment of your health history, perform necessary screenings and tests, and provide guidance on prenatal care, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments. We'll also establish a schedule for future prenatal visits and discuss any questions or concerns you may have.

If you do not know your last menstrual period or how far along you are, it's important to make an appointment to see one of our doctors as soon as you find out you are pregnant. This proactive step helps avoid missing time-sensitive tests and ensures early access to prenatal care.

While every pregnancy is unique, aiming to schedule your first prenatal appointment within the first 6-8 weeks of pregnancy is generally advised. However, if you have specific health concerns or complications, don't hesitate to reach out to Women's Health Center for guidance.
